Dear Drunk and Confused

Dear Drunk and Confused,

I want to take a minute and let you know I'm praying for you. This morning when I saw you laying on the sidewalk with your son standing next to you I felt horrible! I first thought you must have been out for a walk and slipped and fell. When I stopped to see if you needed help it became clear that there was more to the story. Your shirt was completely twisted to the point it was coming off. Plus, the bottle of beer laying next to you was a big clue. Then you started yelling at your son and I knew something wasn't right. As he tried to talk to me you just became more angry. At that point I felt it was better if I got back in my car.

I'm sorry I had to call the police but I didn't what else to do. It was so obvious that you and your son were in danger. Especially when you stumbled out into the busy street in front of several cars and left him on the curb. He stood there waiting and watching to make sure you were safe. He seemed so grown up for only being about 4 or 5. It's obvious he's seen you this way before and that breaks my heart!

Tonight I'm praying for both of you. I'm praying that you are getting cleaned up. I'm praying that your son is in the care of someone special and he's being able to just be a kid. I'm praying that whatever is going on in your life, this might be your wake up call. I'm praying that you might reach out to someone and find the help and love you need! I'm praying that both of you are safe!

It breaks my heart for the little boy! I'm glad you cared enough to stop and help a stranger, even if she didn't realize it was for her own good and more importantly for her son!! It brought tears to my eyes as I read the story, even though you had already told me about it.

Thank you for sharing the love of Jesus with this stranger, you never know the impact it will have on the little boy! You did the right thing!!

Wow when you told me I was so sad for the little boy and the Mother too. I will pray that she will find help and that he will be safe! You did the right thing and you helped save that little boys life. I am glad that he didn't walk out in the street.

How awful for that little boy. I know it was hard Stacey, but you did the right thing. And showing that little boy that someone cared enough to do something was a big, big thing. I'm going to pray as well... The Lord can do incredible things with impossible situations.

Something tells me the Lord knew you'd see this tragic situation, and that you'd pray just as you did, and that He'd use it all as a Divine Appointment that (I pray) will impact a life for eternity - the parent's as well as the little guy looking on.

Thank you for SEEING ... Samaritans are like that! They never walk on by!

It makes me sad but the happy part is that God used you that day. Don't stop praying for them!
