Breaking my heart

On Saturday night we took the boys to see the movie Cars. It was very cute and we all enjoyed it. They did a great job of holding my kid's attention but also making Jeff and I laugh. Take your kids and go see it!

Okay, here's what broke my heart. We ran out of diet coke and Seth was getting a little fussy. I decided to take him for a quick break and refill the diet coke. When we were heading back into the theater, I saw a little boy laying on the floor crying. The next thing I know his Dad kicks him three times and I'm not talking about a little nudge. He kicked him hard. Then grabbed him up by one arm and dragged him the rest of the way out. His wife and other son walked out behind with their heads hanging. I was so sad to see this act and wanted to do something about it but what? There's no way I could have called the police because by the time they got there, he would have been gone. All I could do was pray for that family. I hope someone else will be able to help that little boy. I feel very guilty for not doing more but I'm not sure what else I could have done.

Maybe if you think about it, you could just say a little prayer for that little boy, his family and all the other children who are suffering from child abuse!! My heart just breaks!!

Yes, I will pray with you. These things are so disturbing--if they happen in public--you can only imagine what happens in private. And the real sadness is...this little boy's only definition of a Father...is his dad. Let's pray that God will bring someone into his life who truly represents a loving, Heavenly, Father.

OMG, I couldn't imagine having witness something like that. It is just terrible. I will definately keep that poor child and all abused children in my prayers.

this is horrifying. i dont know what you could have done, but how awful that he is growing up in that home, and the mother had that defeated stance. shes obviously been the subject of it herself if she didnt stand up for her child. certainly something to cover in prayer.

Oh Stacey, so sorry and for the little boy. I hate being subjected to that kind of stuff - and not sure what to do! I just said a prayer for him and his family because you know if one is getting it the others are too. Poor sweet boy...

hey girl...just happened by your site! :-)

This also breaks my heart! There is a definite line between discipline and abuse.

I remember sitting in the car one day, just relaxing and out ran two cute, little dogs...as carefree as could be. Then, soon following, was a man. He caught up with the dogs, took his belt off and beat them both. It was heart breaking to see that, and it wasn't even a child.

As I said, there is a difference between abusing and disciplining.

That is absolutely heartbreaking. How cowardly to kick a child, and how disgusting to change that child forever by hurting him and humiliating him like that.

I am seething in anger about that man right now. Literally.

Not to cause any guilt, so don't take it that way: I may be the odd man out here, but I've been known to yell stop to an abusive parent. It is really hard to get the nerve up to do it, but if nothing else, you are letting that parent know that others are seeing the behavior and it is not normal. You may turn his ire against you, but it will be worth it if he can see how out of control he is.

"I hope someone else will be able to help that little boy." There may not be a someone else for next time.

Wow I dont even know what to say. I am bad some times i think that what the thing says about an eye for an eye. One day God will take care of the little boy and I know that He is watching over him now. Sorry that you had to see it!! Sad that Seth had to see too!!
