You never let go

I am constantly surprised at how God loves us and takes care of us. A few weeks ago we were really struggling with our money and I wasn't sure how we would provide enough groceries for the week. I was getting nervous but hadn't really mentioned it to anyone because I knew God would provide. Sure enough my Mom called me up and said "I'm going to Sam's Club, do you want to ride along?" She did her shopping, we paid and went back to her house. She started dividing stuff up and setting some aside. I didn't really think much about it until she said "Here's some stuff you can have for your house. We'll never eat all of this here." I thanked her and told her she didn't need to do that. She gave her standard answer "That's what Mom's are for! I'm not asking you if you want to take it, I'm telling you that you have to. Grandma used to send stuff home with me and now it's my turn."

A couple weeks later I had sent hubby to the store to pick up groceries but I forgot a couple things on the list. When he got home I realized that he had used the whole grocery budget and we hadn't gotten any meat. The very next day my friend Julie came over about 20 minutes before playgroup. She had a freezer bag in her hand and asked "Do you have room in your freezer for some meat? Someone at church gave us a bunch of meat and we'll never eat it all." She gave me 4 packs of hamburger (2 lbs each), a couple steaks and some frozen hamburger patties. I was so amazed by God and His goodness to our family! I hadn't even asked Him for anything extra but He knew we would need it.

Lately we've been praying that God would continue to bless our family so that we could in turn bless others. I know God is in control and only He knows the plans for our family. I'm trying to sit back and let Him do the planning. It's hard sometimes but I've found this song is a great reminder...

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
Your perfect love is casting out fear
And even when I’m caught in the middle of the storms of this life
I won’t turn back
I know You are near

And I will fear no evil
For my God is with me
And if my God is with me
Whom then shall I fear?
Whom then shall I fear?

Chorus:
Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go
In every high and every low
Oh no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me

And I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
A glorious light beyond all compare
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
We’ll live to know You here on the earth

Chorus:

Yes, I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
Still I will praise You, still I will praise You

Praise God for the way He answered your prayers, both times. He does provide, doesn't He? And your prayer is such a hope-filled prayer of love.

Just so you know, you're not the only one relying on the provisions of God. We've been doing a great
deal of praying in that department as well. And He continually amazes me with His tender care and abundant supplies.

I love that song! I usually belt it out when it plays. I just love the words.

Thanks for this fantastic, open hearted post, Stacey. It's a beautiful reminder to look to God for ALL our needs.

Wow, Stacey... Kudos to you for being so honest and for giving God the glory when He provided for your family. Great testimony. We all need to remember His faithfulness...thanks for the reminder that when we depend on Him alone, we always find that He is GOOD.

I was scrolling down my newly installed (by a friend - since I seem to be rather computer illiterate) Family-friendly Blogroll and thought your name looked interesting. At one time, many, many years ago it was just me and my three guys too. Then when the boys were ten and seven we adopted a little girl. They are all grown up now, and I have seven grandchildren. Anyway....I seem to be rambling a bit here... I have enjoyed reading your post. We were in a similar situation once, and God provided for us in miraculous ways. He is such a loving Father. God bless.

I did manage to find your blog, I guess I was just lost, lol. We are going through stuff like this right now and praying and waiting on the Lord's provisions. I know He always comes through! One time I didn't have enough money for food and payday was just one day too far. I prayed for the Lord to provide. Someone called and said they were making us supper, for no reason. Then a neighbor KID who isn't a Christian made us cupcakes, so we even had dessert! I was just in awe! Provision with a cherry on top! I know God will be working through our situation right now, too. I was encouraged by your testimony!
God bless,
